A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:

Abraham was the father of Isaac,

Isaac the father of Jacob,

Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers,

Judah the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar,

Perez the father Hezron,

Hezron the father of Ram,

Ram the father Amminadab,

Amminadab the father of Nahshon,

Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab,

Boaz the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth,

Obed the father of Jesse,

PROPHECY AND PROPHECY FULFILLED

 

 

Prophecy:  The call of Abram whom God would call Abraham and Abraham’s offspring

No longer will you be called Abram: your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations.  (Genesis 17:5)

 

The Lord had said to Abraham, Leave your country, your people, and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you;

I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse;

And all the peoples on the earth will be blessed through you.”  (Genesis 12:1-3 NIV)

 

Abraham’ life was between 2166 B.C.-1991 B.C.  (B.C. means Before Christ)    Genesis written by Moses between 1446 B.C.-1406 B.C.

 

Prophecy Fulfilled:

  1.  Matthew 1:1   Matthew written between A.D. 60-70

 

  1. Indeed all the prophets from Samuel on, as many have spoken, have foretold these days.  And you are heirs of the prophets and of the convenient God made with your father.  He said to Abraham, “Through your offspring all the peoples on the earth will be blessed.  When God raised up his servant, he sent Him first to you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.”  (Acts 3:24-25)

 

Acts written by Luke between A.D. 63-70   (A.D. means Ad Anno Domini which means In the year of our Lord)

 

  1. The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.  The scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but to your seed, meaning one person who is Christ.  (Galatians 3:16)

Prophecy:  Jacob’s Dream regarding offspring

I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and Isaac.  I will give you and your descendents the land on which you are lying.  Your descendents will be like dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south.  All the peoples on the earth will be blessed through you and your OFFSPRING.  (Genesis 28.14)

Prophecy:  God’s Promise to David

“The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you:  When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your OFFSPRING to succeed you, who will come from your own body and I will establish the throne of His kingdom.  He is the one who will build a house for My Name and I will establish a throne of His kingdom forever.  I will be his father, and He will be my son.”  Nathan reported to David all the words in this entire revelation.  (2 Samuel 7:11-13 & 17)

 

2 Samuel author is anonymous was written around 930 B.C. – David’s reign between 1010B.C.-970 B.C.

Prophecy:  The virgin birth

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign; the virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son and will call Him Immanuel.

But the angel (Gabriel) said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.  You will be with child and give birth to a son and you will give him the name Jesus.  He will be great and be called the Son of Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, His kingdom will never end.” “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of Most High will overshadow you.  So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.”  (Luke 1:34-5)

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.  (Hosea 11:1)

When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream “Get up”, he said, “take the child and his mother andescape to Egypt.  Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”  So he got up and took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod.  And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet:  Out of Egypt I called my son.”  (Matthew 2:13-15)

Prophecy Fulfilled:

Now it was the day of preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jew did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down.  The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other.  But when they came to Jesus and found that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.  Instead one of the soldiers pierced Jesus side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.  The man who has saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you may also believe.  For the readers of these verses that man is the Apostle John as stated in verse 26.  (John 19:31-35)

Prophecy: The crucifixion – The distribution of Jesus garments

I can count all my bones; people stare and gloat over me.  They divide my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.  Psalms 22:17-18)

Prophecy Fulfilled:

When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes dividing them into four shares, one for each of them with the undergarment remaining.  This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.  “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another.  “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”  This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled.  (John 19:23-24)

Prophecy:  Daniel’s Vision of the 2nd Coming

In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the ancient of days and was led into His presence.  He was given authority, glory, and sovereign power; all peoples, nations, and men of every language worshipped Him.  His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.”  (Daniel 7:13-14)

Prophecy:  Matthew’s sign of the 2nd Coming

At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn.  They will see the Son of Man Coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.  (Matthew 24-30)

Prophecy:  John’s declaration of the 2nd Coming
